Chicago Face Lift
What are some of the risks and limitations involved in a facelift?
Because having a facelift means cutting you open and stitching you back again, some of the risks involved are bleeding and bruising. Like in any surgery, these are inevitable. But surgeons are skilled and trained to keep the bleeding and bruising to a minimum level. In very rare cases, some infection may happen when the skin is incised.
However, it’s not totally up to the surgeon to keep as minimal risks as possible. Your participation is a big factor, and by following exactly the doctor’s orders pre and post-operation is essential in lessening the complications that may arise.
Before undergoing the procedure, you should bear in mind that facelift may not completely get rid of your facial wrinkles. There are additional procedures and techniques available for maximum enhancement of your appearance, and these can be done separate from or together with your facelift. Laser resurfacing leaves your skin smoother, especially around the eyes, nose and mouth. For major creases in your skin, Botox or collagen can be injected to improve its appearance. For problems around the eye area, there are certain eye surgeries that can be done. Upper eyelid or lower eyelid blephlaroplasty can be performed together with the facelift, but it’s still up to you.
